Beyond the Individual: A Systems Theory Approach to Teen Self-Harm
Join us for a training led by our guest presenter, Jessica Alexander, LMFT. This training is designed to help clinicians who are currently working or plan to work with adolescents learn how to incorporate family therapy and begin to look at self-harm through a systemic lens. The action of self-harm has a certain connotation in society, but by looking more into what the behavior tells us as clinicians, new interventions and connection with caregivers can be formed. Through open dialogue and vignettes, each participant will have the opportunity to reflect on how they might handle these different scenarios and share what interventions they have used.
Jessica Alexander is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of Georgia and Tennessee. Jessica has worked at all levels of treatment and spent a few years working at a local psychiatric hospital.

Beyond the Ally Sticker: Ethics of Working with Queer and Trans Clients as a Cis and/or Straight Clinician
This training will guide participants in working with clients who do not share gender and/or sexual identities with their therapist. We will focus on training therapists who are cisgender or non-Queer/straight in working with Trans and/or Queer clients, but will also touch on ethical and practice considerations for other gender and sexual identity pairings. We will cover such topics as Trans and Queer cultural norms, common societal experiences relevant to Queer and Trans clients, considerations for working with clients who have non-dominant gender and sexual identities, and in-depth self-reflection aimed at addressing unconscious bias.

Space for Both: Shared Identity and Sustainability in Therapy
This training explores how therapists can remain grounded in themselves while working with clients who share similar identities, experiences, or wounds. When there is overlap, it can be easy to over-identify, disconnect, or lose clarity in the therapeutic relationship. This workshop offers a framework for staying present, ethical, and regulated while honoring both the therapist’s and client’s experiences. Drawing from Internal Family Systems, somatic work, and relational approaches, participants will learn how to recognize activation, maintain boundaries, and practice sustainability in their clinical work.
Macy Jones is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Uniquely Well Therapy. She integrates Internal Family Systems and somatic approaches to support clients in reconnecting with themselves.

Geek Out! An Introduction to Nerd Culture in Therapy to Connect with Clients
We are excited to host our guest presenter, Lance Madow, LPC for this creative new form of therapy. There is a significant love for all things geek and nerd culture within the LGBTQIA+ community, one that is often misunderstood and under appreciated. As these interests are growing in acceptance and included in popular media, so are the ways that people begin to see themselves represented and can explore who they are through the actions of characters. In this training, we'll be discussing some of the major characters your queer, transgender, and gender expansive clients may identify with, the different ways they utilize geeky interests to connect with aspects of their identities, and how they take can take an active role in creating their sense of identity through geek media.

Sept Collaborative Learning: Working with Clinical Resistance & Involuntary Clients
Join Let’s Talk About It Founding Organizer, Casey Schrader, LCSW for a two hour panel discussion focused on her experience working with client resistance in the therapeutic relationship and with involuntary clients. This will primarily focus on her time working in an acute psychiatric hospital.

Antisocial Personality Disorders & The Sociopathic Spectrum: A True Case Conceptualization
At this first-ever clinical case presentation, Chris will be reviewing one of her cases from her practice. This case conceptualization will explore how she recognized, researched, diagnosed, and began treatment for antisocial personality disorder in a long-term therapy client. Historically, APD is predominantly assessed in the correctional system causing an overlook in civilian society. There will be focus on how to present this diagnosis and discuss it in session as well as how to clinically assess outside of incarceration.
This will be an open discussion with time for both structured discussion and questions.
